Spirited Connections Therapy Farm

The Spirited Connections Therapy Farm offers individuals and families an opportunity to escape the city and reconnect with nature.

Our farm is home to a variety of animals, including cats, chickens, dogs, ducks, horses, miniature donkeys, miniature horses, and ponies. Whatever your preference, our farm has something for you!

Visiting the Spirited Connections Farm affords a unique and enriching therapeutic experience that combines the healing qualities of nature with the benefits of animal-assisted interventions. Animal-assisted therapy can help you or your child to address a number of mental health concerns, including anxiety, depression, and trauma. Our farm , with its open spaces, fresh air, and natural serenity, creates a calming backdrop for self-reflection and emotional exploration. Engaging with animals offers individuals opportunities for developing meaningful relationships where you can practice behavioural regulation, communication, emotional awareness, emotional regulation, self-expression, and relationship skills. Moreover, participating in farm activities, such as caring for animals, collecting eggs, of helping at feeding time, fosters a felt sense of responsibility and accomplishment.

Playgrounds are more than just recreational spaces; they are essential environments for fostering childhood development. At the farm, we encourage play and self-expression. We also like to remind visiting adults that connecting with their inner child can be a deeply healing experience also.

When visiting the Spirited Connections Farm, you may also take advantage of one of the strategically located benches. Here you can take advantage of the vantage point, and observe the interactions of horses, hear the rustling leaves, and participate in self-reflection, mindfulness or contemplation.

Activities like wilderness hikes, nature walks, or eco-art projects become powerful tools for experiential learning, promoting self-discovery and helping individuals translate insights gained in nature into meaningful, positive changes in their lives.

The Spirited Connections Therapy Farm is situated on 20 acres in the foothills of Alberta, Canada. Much of the land has remained undisturbed, and welcomes amphibian, avian, and mammalian wildlife. Seasonally, moose, mule deer, white-tail deer, coyotes, foxes, beavers, and muskrats can be seen.

The farm is also home to a beaver dam and beaver den. While presently unoccupied, the beaver have created a pond and a wetland. This space is now home to a variety of birds including yellow-headed black birds, red-wing blackbirds, great blue heron, killdeer, wood peckers, mourning doves, hummingbirds, hawks, bald eagles, and owls. Many children head down to the pond to collet shells, and to look for salamanders or frogs in the summertime. In the winter, the pond freezes over and the tracks of animals can been seen in the fresh snow.

The Spirited Connections farm is closed to the public, and operates by appointment only. Contact us today if you are interested in visiting the Spirited Connections Farm location!
